Max Tzinman

Echoes of Romania- RAMA, an Alianta project

Max Tzinman is a visual artist that lives and works in New York, formerly an architect.

Echoes of Romania: Max’s images are digital paintings that were not based on, or inspired by, photographs. They evoke a deeply felt and cherished childhood experience. In Max’s words:

"As a teenager, I spent a summer vacation in Campulung Moldovenesc.

The sky color in Bukovina is one of the most amazing I remember seeing in my life, maybe the purest blue ever. Instead of reading a book, like almost always when I had free time, I used to lie on my back in the yard, with the book open on my chest, and just watch that sky, the clouds running all over it, sometimes just a wisp, other times in groups, almost always white. They could take miraculous shapes, animal-like, or - rarely - anthropomorphic. This cloud here was a white fluffy sheep running over the blue lawn, that one there could be a dragon with a long neck turning its head slowly and calmly towards me.  I spent hours after hours, just watching, never bored; it was a show never repeating itself.

I will never be able to forget that magic time and those images slowly moving through, like a slow motion movie.

They inspired me to start a new series of images that are trying to reflect that memory
