On May 24, 2022, “Via Transilvanica: The Road Ahead” documentary screening, part of the exclusive US Tour 2022, was hosted in Washington, DC by the Romanian Embassy in the US and ‘Romanian At Heart’, with the support of the Romanian United Fund & FORA (Federation of Romanian American Organizations). It was a powerful, emotional evening. We are grateful to H.E. Ambassador Andrei Muraru & to Mrs. Andreea Muraru for hosting us at the new residence.
Our guests of honor were Alin Useriu, Founder of Tasuleasa Social and Via Transilvanica, and Mihai Lehene, the President of Romanian United Fund.
Cris Ianculescu, a Romanian American local sculptor, donated one of his works for a silent auction which we will post online. (Details about the sculpture can be found here: https://ianculescu.com/warrior-king)
I’ve known about Alin Useriu, founder of Tasuleasa Social since the late 1990s. He is legendary in Romania. We finally met in 2019 at the first Romanian United Fund Gala, when I was an advisor to the President and a member of the board of directors. Last fall Cris Ianculescu and I visited Tasuleasa and we met the vibrant and dedicated team of Via Transilvanica. We fell in love. I’ve worked with Alin and his team since November 2021 as a US Representative to create global partnerships and projects that will give Via Transilvanica the global recognition it deserves.
I’ve been collaborating with Mihai Lehene, Founder and President of RUF since 2019. Working with him both as an Executive Director and an advisor and a board member, I believe in the organization's mission. I am proud of what RUF does and its impact, the concrete results, and its growing relevance in the Romanian diaspora and back home in Romania.
We were thankful to our guests that attended the event. We are grateful for the donations we received. We sold the first milestone in the DC area, thank you Razvan Miutescu. We raised $1,750 that evening. If you wish to donate, please do so by accessing the link at the end of this blog. So far, including the donations on the FaceBook fundraiser, we’ve raised $2,780. Help us reach our goal of $18,000.
Alin Useriu called that night Via Transilvanica “the road that won’t let you get lost”! We need your support to keep us from getting lost! 🙏❤️
